Bernat Softee Chunky

These are blocks one and two for the Bernat 2010 Mystery Afghan crochet-along.  I'm doing two afghans.  One is with the recommended Bernat Softee chunky yarn, and the other is with scrap yarns.  The first two squares were super easy, but the difficulty will increase each week.    Also, there are 48 eight-inch squares to do in the 12 week period.  So as the squares get more complicated, we'll be doing more per week.  My goal is to have two afghan's completed before Christmas.  I still need to finish Dad's African flower afghan before then too.

Great no-chain turn dc

I found this great tutorial on a no-chain turn double-crochet stitch.  I hate the normal loopy 3 chain turns and this method stops that.    tutorial

Bernat Mystery CAL

On September 22, Bernat yarn company is holding a mystery crochet-along.  These are the colors I've selected to use.  Each week we'll get a new pattern clue.  I'll be sharing my progress as the weeks go by.  If everything goes okay, I'll have a nice afghan before Christmas.  Here's a link to the CAL.  http://blog.bernat.com/

The last flowers

The last flowers blooming in the yard.  My camera finally arrived in the mail today.  I'm testing it out and, so far, I think it will be fine.  I still need to learn how all the programs work though.  I'm glad it's just a point and shoot.  It's complicated enough.
